Frugal Friday (24th August)

I thought today I would share with you some links to websites that I visit where you can get lovely downloads, free e-books and lots of wonderful recipes.  These are all proper, well-run, legal websites that don't contravene any publishing laws.  They are ones I visit regularly and am happy to recommend.  Using the resources on these websites can save you lots of money, too!  The Taste of Home website has thousands of delicious recipes to try, and you can create your own customised recipe box and menus too.  And Project Gutenberg has a wealth of free e-books which are available quite legitimately because their copyrighting has expired, so it is no longer necessary to buy printed versions of the books.  They are a little harder to read, I find, than paper books (which is the main reason why I don't have a Kindle) but still well worth taking a look at, especially if you enjoy reading historical novels, or classics by authors such as Elizabeth Gaskell, Charles Dickens and Jane Austen.

Here are some of my favourite sites ...

Cooking And Recipes ...

Taste Of Home
Gooseberry Patch (I've just discovered this website, after Papa Bear bought me some beautiful new cookbooks!)
Delia Smith
Annabel Karmel
Cockatiel Cottage (bird food recipes!)

Books And Reading ...

Project Gutenberg
Skillswise (for adult learners, has lots of online quizzes and worksheets)
Avian Medicine (online Vetinerary Encyclopaedia for birds)

Printable Goodies ...
Graphics Garden (gorgeous homespun designs - many free including adorable recipe cards and shopping lists.  I especially love the bears!)
Heavenly Homemakers (printable seasonal menu plans and recipe cards)
Smilebox (you do need to pay to be able to print things but you can create online recipe boxes, scrapbooks, photo albums and many more, for free)
Make-Your-Own-Invitations

House And Home ...
Organized Home (lots of different printables to help you get organised around the house)
Faithful Provisions (takes a while to upload but has many useful printables)
Titus 2 (homeschool printables)

Crafts And Knitting ...
Red Heart
Homespun Threads
Women's Weekly (huge variety of different crafts plus recipes)

Of course, if you look in my sidebar there are several buttons there which will take you to the websites if you click on them - and there are lots more goodies to find there!  I'm hoping to do a little bit of tweaking to the blog over the weekend, and will add some new links for you to enjoy as well.  In the meantime, why not have a browse at some of the ones above?  I especially recommend Taste of Home - there's recipes for every occasion there!
